‘TANIWHA” means ‘Fabulous Sea Monster’ in the Maori language. This piece is a collaboration between myself and the amazing mixed media artist Vicky T Hunt, from Ginga Squid . This piece won us FIRST PLACE in the ‘Other Beaded’ category in the annual international Step by Step Beads Magazine competition 2009. You will be able to read about this in the November issue of the magazine and it will be announced on their website. Materials used: lampwork beads, Faux Bone, merino wool, vintage ‘blinking’ dolls eye, sterling silver, stainless steel, brass, merino wool, seed beads & various metal washers.
